Bedroom remodel done for client while they were out of town for a week. The floors were an old carpet, baseboards and trim worn from use, and old windows letting in a chill.
First, deconstruction. Baseboards then carpet removed. Carpet attached with tack strips and staples. All removed in anticipation of laminate. Window trim and windows removed. Both interior and exterior. Interior window trim laden with caulk. Some drywall paper tears on removal.
Windows did not have proper sill slope or waterproofing. Altered sill to have slope and added sill pan. Flange windows installed with silicone sealant on top and sides. Flashing over flange on exterior. Old tar paper can layer over. Modifications to the smaller window frame were needed to get to proper dimensions.
Worked the laminate from the opposite side of the room while different operations were taking place on window finishing. Drywall patching, sanding, trim, priming, painting. Decided to go with 6″ mdf trim for the baseboards. Gives the room a more refined look while also covering old trim line.
